Self-respect or self-esteem should be a matter of Do or Die, let go or hold on, Yes or No, black or white. There is no middle state when it comes to self-respect. I am pretty sure you must have got an idea of what I am about to talk?
What is Self-Respect/Self-Esteem?
It’s the state of one’s life where a person gives importance to oneself and his. Your self is your identity, it’s your sense who you are. As you know it’s important to give respect to everyone not only by talking to them or having a polite attitude with them but also respecting their opinions and ideas. The same applies to ourselves and how we should respect our feelings, desires, and thoughts. You should know where you can say “No” to anyone about anything for the sake of yourself and your happiness. It doesn’t mean that you’re hurting anyone’s respect.
“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.” (Mark Twain)
Self-respect is a fruit of discipline, the sense of dignity that grows with the ability to say no to oneself.
Never lose your self-respect and dignity by trying to make people love and appreciate you. If you’re not happy with something then leave it, don’t ever pressurize yourself to do it for the sake of others approval.
The way you respect yourself shows how you’ll respect everyone else.
Self-respect is all about admiring your worth, protecting your dignity, and taking pride in your abilities. It’s an essence of developing confidence within yourself and making healthy relationships with everyone else around us.
It’s a vital component of your inner life and it’s a part of a healthy connection with yourself. It’s a sense of esteem in yourself that you are worthy of being treated well. You deserve to be treated right.
“Real education enhances the dignity of a human being and increases his or her self-respect. If only the real sense of education could be realized by each individual and carried forward in every field of human activity the world will be so much a better place to live in. ” (A.P.J Abdul Kalam)
However, the backbone of self-respect is knowing your values and living by them. Having self-respect often means that you need to stand by your character and be willing to defend your values and actions.
“Self-respect cannot be hunted. It cannot be purchased. It is not for sale. It can never be fabricated out of public relations it comes to us when we are alone, in quiet moments, in quiet places, when we realize that, knowing the good, we have done it; knowing the beautiful, we have served it; knowing the truth, we have spoken it. “( Anand and Kulbir)
If a person doesn’t have self-respect he cannot make decisions for himself and other people will take advantage from him.
Self-respect will bring positivity to your thoughts and attitude. It will help your mind to be at peace and through this, you will not rush into anxiety about others opinions.
Self-respect is a self-worth of achievements in our life to be successful in it and maintain a healthy bond with everyone.
This is how you can be a happy successful person in your life when you know your worth, dignity, abilities, and values.
Recognizing oneself as a person or as an individual should be the main priority to succeed in life. You don’t have to overdo yourself to please others. All you have to do is create a balance between your professional and personal life. That’s how you will be able to live a better life.
